Abstract

The Mahdi is a phenomenon emerged in line with the political and cultural tendencies of the societies and that was later converted into belief by the means of dream, discovery, devotion and weak news. Mahdi belief is not included in the early belief principles and sources of the kalam. This topic is better understood when it is examined with its political, cultural and religious dimensions. In fact, the issue of Mahdi appears to be a political phenomenon with a sociocultural structure rather than a religious issue. From the true path of the Qur'an, whose judgment will remain until the doomsday, it is not only a rational basis to make the spirit of ummah’s assignment in need of a person’s or a group’s Mahdism, but it is also incompatible with nasses. In this context, it’s focused on the religious, cultural and social background of the mahdi’s belief, and  Şia who turns the idea of Mahdi into a belief with the concern of protecting the Ahl al-bayt in the article.
