THE EFFECTS OF CHASTİTY TİTLE ON QURAN COMMENTARY (PROPHET SOLOMON EXAMPLE)

This study aims to study how the principles of chastity, one of the attributes of the prophets, influences Quran's commentary in the exemplification of the anecdote of prophet Solomon which is narrated in Sâd sura. The title ‘chastity’, which is known to have come to exist political-based and then appeared in theological matters, is an attribute which is mandatory characteristics for prophets. In Quran, while it is being addressed to prophets’ supreme features such as sincere, privileged, honest, faithful etc. it is not mentioned about their being unblemished and sinless. On the contrary, faults of some prophets are told in Quran. Moreover, the relevant verses pointing to the faults of the prophets have been interpreted by some hermeneutical in the frame of chastity principle or they had been misinterpreted intentionally. It is stated that the prophets who are messengers between Allah and human beings cannot make mistakes due to their positions and being exemplary.In this study, firstly a brief assessment about the content of chastity title will be done in introduction part and then the Prophet Solomon’s anecdote in Sâd Sura will be discussed in the context of chastity title.
