Abstract

People’s curiosity about space has come to light with the innovations brought by the digital age. The excitement created by the unknowns of space has made more people interested in space. Thus, space tourism was born as a new business model. People who want to engage in this tourism must pay high fees to have an extraordinary experience. The purpose of this article is to investigate the impact of the space economy on trade. In this context, the development of space tourism and space economy, which adds a different dimension to trade, was examined by scanning the literature. In addition, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and International Economic Cooperation (OECD) reports, Statista data and news sites such as BBC and Forbes were used in the study. As a result of the study, it is thought that the increase in space-based companies, governments focusing on space studies and allocating funds for this may increase space tourism by improving trade. It is estimated that the development of the space economy will create different job opportunities and many people will be able to participate in space travel.
