This circumstance that is a reflection of the modern life occurs as an addiction to internet or a problem use of internet, if it goes ahead in an excessive manner.&nbsp; In this context, the problem use of internet is possible to mean the use of excessive and exaggerative use of internet in daily life. In parallel with digitalization steps in the education period, the impact and penetration of the problem use of internet that generally targets youth and children has progressively increased day by day. Researches reveal that the determinant role of technology has a negative impact on books and reading habits that is the primary and basic resource of knowledge in all kinds. It’s a vital importance to encourage students to the reading habits in all types and steps of the education which means an impact on language and mental development. However, the conversion of the reading activity into a habit is possible with a sufficient level of the reading motivation. The reading motivation is a concept that expresses the affective processes such as an interest, enthusiasm and curiosity in reading. The main goal of this research is to determine the relation between the problem use of internet and the reading motivation in the students of 4<sup>th</sup> grade at the primary education schools. For this purpose, the study has been carried out with the correlational survey model-one of the quantitative research models. The target population of the study includes the 4<sup>th</sup> grade students who have been learning at the city center of Kocaeli during the 2020/2021 academic year. As a sampling group, 317 4<sup>th</sup> grade students from 18 schools have been randomly determined within the said target population. The data in the research have been obtained by the Internet Addiction and the Reading Motivation scales. As a result of the research, it’s concluded that the level of the internet addiction in 4<sup>th</sup> grade students is low, whilst the reading motivation is high. On the other hand, it’s also concluded that there is no any statistical relation between the level of the problem use internet and the level of reading motivation.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> Problematic internet, reading motivation, addiction</p> ER -
