Abstract

BREXIT AND THE FUTURE OF SMEs IN THE UK
This study consists of three main sections. First, the concept of Brexit was clarified. This section lists the historical process of Britain's decision to leave the European Union (EU) (Brexit). The UK is now an officially separated community from the EU, starting January 31, 2020. The new situation has been a development that affects every segment of the country closely. In this study, the size of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was examined, not large-scale enterprises. Therefore, in the second part, SMEs in the UK are introduced. Here, the definition of the SME concept accepted in the EU and the UK and their classifications are explained separately. The third part is about the future of SMEs in England after Brexit. It is a development generally accepted by all parties that Brexit is closely related to private enterprises as well as public institutions and organizations. SMEs, which constitute an important part of the enterprises, will definitely start to be affected by the new situation. Possible developments in this context constituted the content of the last section. The study was finally finished with results and general evaluation.
